The Intelligent and Integrated Buildings Council's overall objective is to work on "large building" issues and opportunities that allow CABA to achieve its mission, which is: "To encourage the development, promotion, pursuit and understanding of integrated systems and automation in homes and buildings."

The Connected Home Council will examine industry opportunities that can accelerate the adoption of new technologies, consumer electronics and broadband services within the burgeoning connected home market.

In July 2006, CABA integrated the operations of the Internet Home Alliance. The Alliance is a cross-industry network of leading companies engaged in collaborative research to advance the connected home space. The Alliance's research projects enables participating companies to gain important insights into the connected home space and leverage those insights into viable new business opportunities. CABA will continue to pursue the work of the Council through its new Research Council, which will also encompass wider ranging commercial research projects.

The Low-Voltage Subcommittee provides input and oversight concerning the development of low-voltage communications.

This subcommittee of the CABA Intelligent & Integrated Buildings Council promotes the value of intelligent building integration technology for green, LEED, and Green Globes Initiatives by providing representation, education, and input into the rating systems used by industry organizations: USGBC, CaGBC, and GBI.
